You know us at Period Six; there's nothing more irresistible to us than ephemera! Make it oddities from the natural world AND create jewelry with it and we're done for - must have it ALL!
Enter Faryn Davis of Fernworks and her tiny, intricate worlds in resin.
Faryn blends miniature painted scenes and found specimens such as grass, lichen, feathers, gemstones, and ethically sourced bones into dimensional resin artwork and jewelry. Each piece is hand-painted with toothpicks and brushes, layered in epoxy, then polished into delicate, dreamlike 3-D landscapes populated by magical symbols, birds, bears, foxes, and other creatures.
This month we're excited to introduce you to West Elevations, a sustainable construction company based in our backyard - Golden, Colorado. While we are in awe of custom homes they've had a hand in constructing, it's their woodworking and furniture that we knew we had to share with all of you.
One of our favorite ways to look for new Period Six artisans, is through the finely honed practice of mother-daughter time-wasting. While it gets called 'time-wasting' by the rest of the family, we can find no better way to spend an hour than exploring an eclectic neighborhood, uncovering hidden wonders. We delight in getting off the highway to see what, or who rather, is telling a good story. These detours have lead us to a boutiques, markets, studios and some really interesting, talented people.

These cakes embody summer and are a great way to indulge in a bright lemon flavor with the added bonus of antioxidants - can't complain there. The olive oil also helps your treats last longer and gives them a fluffier texture.
To kick off our new monthly artisan spotlight, we did a little Q&A with a company based in our backyard. Period Six Studio began carrying Healthy Harvest's products about a year ago products after meeting them at a farmers market. We fell in love with every thing we tried and couldn't wait to share them with you! Enjoy learning little more about Healthy Harvest, come in for a sample and stay tuned in June for a couple great recipes to make you a Healthy Harvest enthusiast too!
